Symplicity Networks is currently looking for a qualified web developer who has the ability to design websites and integrate with Symplicity Networks programmers. Successful candidates should have a background in HTML, graphics design, use of scripting languages such as PHP, ASP, and Javascript. Emphasis should be placed on graphics and site design.

Essential Duties:
-Design and prototype Internet applications and websites in a development cycle involving direct customer input and approval
- Strong emphasis on graphics design and user interface development
-Implement and maintain Internet applications through their life cycle
- Design and layout web graphics for use in websites
-Assume ownership, customization, and maintenance responsibility for existing and off-the-shelf Internet applications -Serve as Internet consultant to team members and customers
-Prepare and deliver oral presentations, written reports, and formal and informal training seminars to customers and colleagues
-Meet with internal and external customers formally and informally to discuss their needs and refine their requirements
-Proactively stay abreast of the technologies and business of the Internet by reviewing industry trade journals, newsletters and electronic media reports - Participate as active and contributing team member during meetings concerning team planning, organization, development efforts and future project directions
Essential Knowledge:
-Required: Internet server systems experience, specifically with Redhat Linux -Required: Understanding of Internet server software (e.g. daemons for FTP, SSH and Apache) operations, configuration and client interface -Required: Experience with Internet server development tools including HTML, JAVASCRIPT, PERL and UNIX command shells, PHP and ASP -Required: Direct knowledge of Internet network architectures including local- and wide-area networks, domain name services and network security issues -Required: Working knowledge of current generation World Wide Web design and development editors, tools, and languages; Photoshop or other graphics editing software -Required: Effective organization and mastery of the English language in written and oral forms -Required: Ability to manage a workload consisting of multiple tasks at various priorities with minimal supervision -Required: Ability to manipulate and design web graphics for use in websites -Desired: Experience with C++, PERL and Shellscripting programming languages -Desired: Experience with web integration of SQL databases (MySQL PostgreSQL, Access, MS SQL Server, or Oracle)
Essential Education:
-BS/BA Degree in any Information Technology discipline - minimum of 3 years directly applicable work experience
Essential Skills:
-Ability to manage multiple simultaneous development projects, while providing progress reports to management and customer organizations -Ability to empathize with customers and instill confidence in our team's ability to deliver the service they need in a competent and consistent manner -Desire and initiative to quickly learn new skills and rapidly apply those skills to enhancing NASA Spacelink's materials and services - Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
