Development Engineer

The Development Engineer is primarily responsible for all technical design and development activities on projects. The Manager will estimate projects and write proposals, design technically sound solutions that address our customers’ business problems and create and maintain project schedules. Additional tasks involve conducting design sessions with customers and project team, establishing and enforcing coding standards as well as code check in/check out process, conducting code reviews and developing and enforcing testing standards. The position may also involve some mentoring of junior staff members and assistance in determining staff training requirements.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in both Microsoft and Unix/Linux tools and technologies. Other desired skills include and understanding of enterprise development concepts such as networking, messaging, database administration and Lifecycle Methodologies.

Anticipated knowledge of client/server development tools and technologies would include Microsoft Access, VBA, Visual Basic , PHP (UNIX based scripting language), HTML, VBScript (Active Server Pages), Jscript/JavaScript, XML, Visual Studio .Net , IE (Internet Explorer & Compatibilities) and Netscape (Browser & Server).

Qualified candidates will have an understanding of Data Modeling, SQL Server, MS Access, MySQL, Postgresql, and Visio . Platform tools and technologies include Windows 2000/2003 (Server), Windows XP , UNIX (Linux) , Apache (Web server) and IIS (Internet Information Server).

Additional desired knowledge includes TCP/IP, LDAP (Light weight Data Access Protocol), Network Topologies, Domains (BDC, PDC, Trusted, Accounts, Groups, etc…), Directories (ADSI), Backup/Recovery Options, Unix Shell scripting (CSH,BASH,PERL) Remote Administration (RPC, RAS, PC Anywhere) and Terminal Server.
